10年磨礪終成黃粱一夢!蘋果放棄造車、轉戰AI,馬斯克用了兩個表情置評

北京時間週三凌晨3點,全球知名的科技記者馬克·古爾曼發佈了一條重磅猛料:蘋果公司已經決定取消電動汽車項目,將團隊轉向生成式人工智能,公司正逐步結束長達十年之久的電動汽車探索計劃。

面對潛在的競爭對手退出賽道,特斯拉首席執行官埃隆·馬斯克(Elon Musk)第一時間衝到“吃瓜前線”,發了一個“致敬”、“香煙”的愜意表情。

終結電動汽車計劃,將轉崗搞AI

根據彭博社報道,蘋果公司在週二在內部一次約12分鐘的簡短會議上披露了這一消息,並且沒有回答任何問題。據知情人士透露,蘋果首席運營官傑夫·威廉姆斯(Jeff Williams)和負責這項工作的副總裁凱文·林奇(Kevin Lynch)同意了這一決定。

蘋果汽車團隊目前有近2000名員工,還擁有數百名硬件工程師和車輛設計師。他們有可能內部轉崗,或者裁員。

兩位高管吿訴員工,造車項目將逐步結束,汽車團隊(稱為“特殊項目組”或 SPG)的許多員工將被轉移到高級副總裁John Giannandrea領導下的人工智能部門,這些員工將專注於生成式人工智能項目,這對公司來説越來越重要。

蘋果對上述消息拒絕置評。傳出消息後,本週二美股午盤時段,盤中曾跌近0.9%的蘋果股價持續反彈,收盤升近1%,報182.63美元。

十年電車夢碎

多年來,一直有傳言稱,蘋果正試圖打造一款自動駕駛電動出租車,以挑戰電動汽車巨頭特斯拉。

蘋果的造車歷史可以追溯到2014年,當年由庫克批准,蘋果啟動Titan計劃,而後發揮“鈔能力”重金從谷歌、平治、特斯拉等公司挖角,組建了一支擁有硅谷 + 汽車產業基因的核心團隊。

截至2019年末,蘋果從特斯拉挖走了超過300人。後來,由於蘋果在造車路線和方向上反覆搖擺,也遲遲沒有合作對象和形式落地,導致參與Titan計劃的高管大量出走,項目也幾度停滯。

電動汽車需求疲軟

蘋果還面臨着電動汽車市場降温的問題。由於高價格和缺乏充電基礎設施阻礙了主流買家轉向全電動汽車,近幾個月銷售增長失去了動力。

在面臨電動汽車需求低迷和製造瓶頸後,通用汽車和福特正在轉向生產更多混合動力汽車,整個行業的汽車製造商都在大幅削減電池電動汽車的價格、生產目標和利潤預測。

就連美國電動汽車革命的先驅特斯拉也警吿稱,今年的擴張速度將“顯著降低” 。瑞銀曾預測,2024年美國電動汽車銷量增速將從47%放緩至11%。

據悉,特斯拉、福特、通用汽車和Rivian Automotive 已縮減了電動汽車產量。

過去五年,該公司研發總支出達1130億美元,年均增長率約為16%。該公司最近還推出了 Vision Pro 耳機,這是近十年來的第一個新產品類別,並已經建立了該業務。

該公司此前曾取消過一些項目,其中包括2015年左右放棄的生產電視機的計劃。但很少有項目能持續這麼久、涉及如此多的員工或花費數十億美元。
