A New Era for Tech Giants:The Arrival of BATMMAAN

Over the past decade, the U.S. stock market has evolved from FAANG to the "Magnificent Seven," with these titles constantly refreshing the dominance of tech stocks. With Broadcom's strong rise in December 2024, a new name, "BATMMAAN," has officially emerged, symbolizing the expansion of the landscape of tech giants in U.S. markets.

"BATMMAAN" is composed of eight tech giants: Broadcom, Apple, Tesla, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, Alphabet (the parent company of Google), and NVIDIA. This name draws inspiration from Batman, incorporating Broadcom into the original seven giants and rearranging them.

In terms of market capitalization, Broadcom has reached $1.13 trillion, making it the sixth-largest publicly traded company in the U.S., just behind Tesla. Broadcom's rise is attributed to its outstanding performance in the 2024 fiscal year, with annual revenue hitting $51.6 billion, a 44% year-over-year increase. The AI and VMware business segments have become the core engines of this growth, propelling its stock price to soar 24% the day after its earnings report, marking the largest single-day increase in history, a moment referred to as Broadcom's "NVIDIA moment."

According to MarketWatch, the formation of "BATMMAAN" highlights the significant role of tech giants in the U.S. stock market. As of December 16, 2024, since the U.S. election, the combined market value of these eight companies has increased by over $1.9 trillion, accounting for more than 85% of the total market value increase of the S&P 500 index during the same period. Data from the S&P 500 indicates that in December, the technology, consumer discretionary, and communication services sectors performed the strongest, with all eight "BATMMAAN" companies belonging to these sectors.

Despite other stocks in the U.S. market showing instability over the past month, the eight companies in "BATMMAAN" have continued to surge, extending their upward momentum since November. As market volatility intensifies, the concentration of these tech giants is continually rising. Investors are optimistic about the prospects of these companies, viewing them as the focal point of future market developments.
