AIG(AIG.US)子公司AIG Financial Products(AIGFP)已根據美國破產法第11章申請破產,以完成關閉2008年金融危機中的業務震央。
AIG Financial Products在2008年已基本停止營運,破產不會對AIG或AIG最近剝離的人壽及退休保險公司 Corebridge Financial(CRBG.US)產生重大影響。
根據法庭文件,AIG Financial Products發行的信貸違約掉期產品導致AIG在次級抵押貸款市場崩潰期間承擔數十億美元的損失,並令公司最終獲得1,823億美元的聯邦救助,AIG在2012年已償還這筆款項。
