兆科眼科-B(06622.HK)於中國進行NVK002第III期橋接臨牀試驗(小型CHAMP)的首名患者入組
格隆匯5月19日丨兆科眼科-B(06622.HK)宣佈，NVK002(公司核心產品之一)為期一年的第III期橋接臨牀試驗(「小型CHAMP」)的首名患者已於2022年5月13日入組。早前於2022年3月，公司宣佈首名患者入組同步進行的為期兩年第III期臨牀試驗("中國CHAMP")，而截至2022年5月16日，中國CHAMP已成功入組144名患者，招募工作仍在進行。
中國CHAMP及小型CHAMP的主要目標為評估NVK002對於控制兒童及青少年近視加深的療效及安全性。中國CHAMP試驗將涉及19間中心，入組777名患者，由北京同仁醫院王寧利教授出任牽頭研究者。小型CHAMP試驗將涉及18間中心，入組526名患者，由復旦大學附屬眼耳鼻喉科醫院瞿小妹教授及中山大學中山眼科中心楊曉教授出任聯席牽頭研究者。
截至2022年5月16日，中國CHAMP及小型CHAMP於中國已經入組合共150名患者。結合VylumaInc.(「Vyluma」)於歐美進行的臨牀研究，整個CHAMP試驗的合併入組患者人數，將為全球所有阿托品臨牀研究中最多，而在安全性及療效方面亦擁有最長期及最全面的數據。
公司夥伴Vyluma(NevakarInc.("Nevakar")的全資附屬公司，於2021年5月成立)於歐美進行的NVK002CHAMP試驗乃全球最先進的藥品註冊研究，以低劑量阿托品緩減兒童及青少年的近視加深。三年期NVK002治療的CHAMP試驗預計於2022年底前完成。預期於2023年向美國食品藥品監督管理局("FDA")提交新藥申請，而NVK002現時的定位為全球首個緩減近視加深的認可產品。假若於美國取得FDA認可，則該藥亦將合資格於中國海南省進行真實世界研究。
NVK002乃一種用於控制兒童及青少年近視加深的試驗性新型外用眼部溶液。NVK002乃一項專利配方，成功解決低濃度阿托品的不穩性，此技術在全球均受到知識產權保護。NVK002不含防腐劑，預計保存期超過24個月。根據灼識行業諮詢有限公司("灼識")提供的資料，NVK002目前為全球用於控制近視加深的最先進阿托品候選藥物之一，目標患者組別最為廣泛，覆蓋3至17歲的兒童及青少年。
NVK002的臨牀研究涉及兩個不同阿托品濃度，讓個別患者可按個人需要靈活地在最少副作用下達致最大療效。
根據世界衞生組織及灼識的資料，中國目前有約7億名近視患者，當中1.63億為或能受惠於NVK002的兒童及青少年。董事會相信，NVK002的潛在商業生產將讓公司藉滿足中國龐大的需求缺口，建立領導地位。
於2020年10月，公司與Nevakar(Nevakar其後將協議轉讓予其全資附屬公司Vyluma)就一項獨家許可訂立一份許可協議(即NVK002許可協議)，以於大中華、南韓及東南亞若干國家(包括汶萊、緬甸、柬埔寨、東帝汶、印尼、寮國、馬來西亞、菲律賓、新加坡、泰國及越南)開發、製造、登記、進口及商業生產NVK002。
