Canalys: smartphone shipments in China fell 18% in the first quarter
According to a research report released by Canalys, the Chinese smartphone market shipped 75.6 million units in the first quarter, down 18% year-on-year. Among them, Honor reached the top for the first time with 15 million units shipped and a growth rate of 205%. OPPO (including OnePlus) remains in second place with 13.9 million units shipped under the continuous brand transformation. AAPL.US (AAPL) remained in third place after a strong performance in the fourth quarter of last year. Vivo and 01810.HK ranked in the top five, with shipments of 12.2 million and 10.6 million, respectively. As Huawei faded out in recent quarters, competition among the top five suppliers has been fierce, according to Amber Liu, an analyst at Canalys. While Glory's offline channels continue to grow, the new 60 and X30 series also contribute to robust performance.
