The "Asian stock market" Hang Seng Index lost more than 600 points and lost 20,000 points. The Shanghai Composite Index broke through 3,000 points and hit a nearly two-year low.
Us interest rate hikes are expected to continue to rise, with the three major indexes of US stocks plunging 2.5 per cent to 2.8 per cent on Friday. Major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region fell across the board this morning (25). After opening 353 points lower at 20284 this morning, the morning market fell to nearly 20, 000 points. However, weighty stocks 09988.HK, 00005.HK, 01810.HK and 02318.HK fell 4 to 5 per cent, and the Hang Seng Index's afternoon decline widened again, breaking through the 20, 000 mark, and is now down 654 points, or 3.2 per cent, to 983, a low of more than a month after mid-March. The Hang Seng Index is now down 3.5% at 3862.
The epidemic in the mainland continues to be grim. Renhui fell significantly last week, but it has not stopped falling today. The yuan tumbled sharply this morning, falling as low as 6.5489, the lowest for more than a year since mid-April last year, and is now down 0.6 per cent at 6.5416. The Shanghai Composite Index fell more than 3% in the afternoon and lost 3000 levels. It is now down 3.2% at 2986, the lowest in nearly two years. The Shenzhen Composite Index is now down 3.9% at 10621, which is the lowest in the past two years. Taiwan's weighted share price index fell three times in a row, falling 2.4% in late trading to 16620, a low of about half a year.
At the end of the day, the Nikkei index fell 1.7% to 26635. The Kospi index fell 1.4% to 2668 in the afternoon. Singapore's Straits Times index market index is now down 0.3% at 3351.
Financial markets in Australia and New Zealand are closed for holidays. Indonesia's Jakarta composite index fell significantly to 0.1% to 7215. Vietnam's VNI fell sharply to 2.4% to 1346. Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur composite index is now down 0.6% at 1592. India's SENSEX index fell 0.8 per cent to 56734 in early trading. Thailand's SET is now down 0.6% at 1680.
